‘At least 40 vehicles’ involved in snowy pileup, shutting down interstate in both directions

A large pileup involving at least 40 vehicles shut down a stretch of Interstate 94 on Sunday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m. in Osseo, Wisconsin.

According to Wisconsin troopers, 33 vehicles and 7 tractor trailers were involved in the pileup. 7 injuries were reported, with one listed as a “life threatening injury.”

The highway was been closed in both directions between mile markers 81 to 88 as a result of the pileup. Both east and westbound traffic is being rerouted to Highway 53.

Troopers are asking motorists to use extreme caution due to slick road conditions.

A video of the incident was shared on social media, and has been viewed more than 1 million times.
