Illinois interstate closed for police standoff

Illinois transportation officials have closed both directions of a major interstate for heavy police presence involving a standoff.

Illinois State Police have closed both directions of I-88 near Rock Falls for an incident involving heavy police presence.

Police say that a person has barricaded themselves inside their vehicle.

A negotiator with the Illinois State Police is on the scene.

A SWAT team and multiple law enforcement agencies are on scene.

The incident has resulted in heavy traffic delays.

Police are routing vehicles off of I-88 onto Highway 30.
