Massive shipment of liquid meth seized at Mexico/U.S. border

Federal authorities say that they seized more than 1500 pounds of liquid methamphetamine at a commercial cargo facility on Wednesday.

The drug seizure was made around 7 p.m. on February 12 at the Ysleta port of entry in El Paso, Texas, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Authorities say that a tractor trailer entering the commercial cargo facility from Mexico was inspected. During the inspection, agents unloaded the truck’s cargo of a multi-use cleaning product and determined that 32 bottles in the shipment actually contained liquid methamphetamine.

The drugs were seized by authorities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that a total of 1,543 pounds of methamphetamine were seized.

“This is a huge seizure and more than triples the 425 pounds of methamphetamine seized by CBP officers working El Paso area ports for all of fiscal year 2019,” said Hector Mancha, CBP El Paso Director of Field Operations.
