Animal rights protester killed after being struck by semi truck at meat processing plant
An animal rights activist was killed this morning when she was hit by a truck during a demonstration outside of a meat processing plant.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Friday, June 19, at Fearmans Pork Inc. meat processing facility in Burlington, Ontario.
Police say that a female in her 60s was killed after she was struck by a truck at the facility.
Local news outlet Inside Halton reports that the woman was part of a group giving water to pigs inside the truck’s trailer when she was fatally struck.

Halton Police are asking anyone who witnessed this incident, or anyone with dash cam footage from the area at the time of the collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 5065.
Animal rights activists routinely demonstrate outside of the facility and ask truck drivers to stop to give them a moment to “bear witness” to the animals who are to be processed.
The group Toronto Pig Save shared video of a planned protest at the facility earlier this morning, according to CBC.
