Indiana State Police (ISP) are investigating a fatal two truck crash that occurred in Clay County on Wednesday night.
The crash occurred at 6:35 p.m. on March 10 on I-70 at mile marker 19, according to a report from ISP.
ISP says that 35 year old Pennsylvania-based truck driver Emmanuel Ramos was traveling eastbound on I-70 at speeds of 60 m.p.h. “when suddenly, he was struck in the rear by another semi tractor-trailer. The force of this collision caused both semi tractor-trailers off Interstate 70 to the south side into the wood line.”
The driver of the second semi truck, 48 year old Tennessee resident Carey W. Baker, died at the scene.
Twenty-six year old Tennessee resident Ian M. Windom was in the sleeper berth of Baker’s truck when the crash occurred. Windom suffered non life-threatening neck and back injuries from the impact of the accident and was transported to the hospital.
ISP says that drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor of the accident.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Baker.
The crash is under investigation.
