A federal jury has awarded a truck driver more than $1 million in damages after he was struck and injured by a falling tire at a Goodyear facility.
Truck driver Shane Amidon was awarded $1,313,287 for future lost earnings and future medical expenses, according to a September 22 report from PennLive.
Amidon was a customer at a Goodyear Tire & Service Center near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in April 2017 when he was injured.
Amidon said that a Goodyear employee threw a 48 pound tire over the railing from the second story of the building. The tire struck Amidon as he was walking out of an office on the first floor, striking him on the neck and back.
In addition to neck and back pain, Amidon said that he experienced symptoms like dizziness, headaches, and light sensitivity as a result of the incident.
Goodyear did not deny liability for the accident but argued that Amidon’s injuries would require little continuing medical treatment.
Goodyear offered a $1 million settlement in late August.
