Mother arrested for collision with semi truck that took her son’s life

Published:

Serious charges have been filed against a mother who crashed her car into an oncoming semi truck earlier this year, killing her son.

The charges for the June 20th accident were filed last week in Miami County, Florida.

According to WHIO 7 News, 28-year-old Britaney Kirchgessner was driving along Highway 36 at South Walnut Street just before 7 a.m. when she crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an oncoming semi truck.

The impact seriously injured Kirchgessner and her son, Daniel Voris. Voris was transported to a nearby children’s hospital for treatment, but soon succumbed to his injuries. Kirchgessner sustained serious injuries but has since recovered. The truck driver, 49-year-old Billy Shoffner, was not hurt in the incident.

Kirchgessner is suspected to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash and was arrested last week on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide.
