One person was killed and another was seriously injured after an ambulance crashed into the side of a semi truck in Texas on Wednesday night.
The crash happened in Hunt County just north of Greenville, Texas before 7 p.m. on November 17th.
According to CBS 11 News, the semi truck was backing out of a private drive onto Highway 69 when the southbound ambulance smashed into the side of it. The force of the impact sent the ambulance underneath the rig.
The driver of the ambulance died at the scene, and the other paramedic was airlifted to a nearby hospital in what was described as a serious but stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
UT Health East Texas, the owner of the ambulance, released the following statement about the incident:
We are devastated by the loss of one of our team members who was involved in a two-vehicle accident while on duty Wednesday night. Another crew member was also injured. Our thoughts are with the team member’s family and friends. Our prayers are also with the injured crew member who is being treated. We have trained crisis counselors available to provide support for colleagues and employees at this difficult time.”
