Flying J truck stops have taken the health crises of truck drivers seriously, and have invested in a chain of roadside health clubs where truckers can go work on state of the art fitness gear for a small membership fee. Now Pilot / Flying J is going a step further in providing good examples of health to truck drivers.
Pilot Flying J is teaming up with Truckers to Triathletes (T2T) to help professional drivers maintain healthy lifestyles. Pilot Flying J is a 2012 sponsor of the Revolution 3 Triathlon series, which is July 8 in Portland, Ore. It will be sponsoring a group of five professional drivers: John Schneidewind, Steve Johnson, Bret Wright, Tom Struzan and Jason Stringer. During the training period, Pilot Flying J and T2T will work together to develop health plans specific to the trucking lifestyle.
Truckers to Triathletes is a group of truckers who became athletes by participating in a triathlon while being on a unique program set up by Dr. Bud Harris. Dr. Harris is a Fitness Coach from Oregon, also known as America’s Wellness Sergeant.
The T2T team will use the Portland triathlon as a starting point for a training plan that will culminate in their participation in the Rev3 Tri in Anderson, S. C., in October.
