Our nation’s troops give off the impression as men and women who are rugged survivors who can do almost anything they put their minds to, but it’s easy to forget the hardship that military families face when the soldiers in their family have to make the ultimate sacrifice. Wreaths Across America, The Arlington Project and Pilot Flying J truck stops want to help people remember. Best of all, you can help.
Pilot Flying J is asking professional drivers to join in its “Cup with a Cause” campaign in October and November to support WAA. For just $3, drivers can purchase a special limited-edition travel mug from any Pilot Travel Center or Flying J Travel Plaza across the U.S. The full amount of the purchase price will be donated to WAA.
“The mission of Wreaths Across America is ‘Remember, Honor, Teach,’ and we are proud to support those values,” said Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Pilot Flying J. “Our friends across the industry including the Truckload Carriers Association, many professional drivers and trucking companies are already very involved in the program. We’re proud to join our friends and colleagues in honoring the men and women who gave their lives to defend our nation, and we’re sure our customers will want to help us too.”
There are 225,000 headstones at Arlington National Cemetery, and Wreaths Across America wants to place a memorial beside each one of them. Wreaths Across America was founded to continue and expand the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester, in 1992.

What is the Escort to Arlington convoy?
In 2006, internet stories fueled attention for his annual quest, and Worcester was contacted by the Patriot Guard Riders who generously offered their help with the project. Since then the Patriot Guard Riders have escorted the wreath trucks down the East Coast and taking several days to make the trip. This allows stops at schools, monuments, veterans’ homes and communities, and gives the group an opportunity to promote their mission: Remember-Honor and Teach. This “parade” of truckers, supporters, and well-wishers has become an annual event and teaching opportunity for WAA, and a valued part of the Arlington Project.
Remember, truck drivers! Escort to Arlington Starts December 9, 2012 in Harrington Maine, and finishes on December 15, 2012 at Arlington National Cemetery! Pass it on!
