VIDEO: Moving The World’s Biggest Truck

As they say, “If you bought it, a truck brought it.” That goes for nearly everything, even other trucks. The truck in the video is barely a truck and more like a square city block of iron and rubber. Yet it just couldn’t be driven to the job site. It had to be carefully moved by flatbed over several miles of highway to its new home at a mining pit in the American northwest.

What’s the truck in the video? It’s a Caterpillar 797F Mining Dump Truck.

The 797F comes equipped with a powerful and efficient Cat C175-20 engine and a payload capacity of up to 400 short tons.

A gross 3,400 hp (2,535 kW) Cat 3524B HD EUI 24-cylinder, high displacement, electronic unit injection, quad single-stage turbocharged, aftercooled, four-stroke diesel engine powers the 797. The Cat 3524B HD engine is a tandem unit consisting of two 12-cylinder Cat 3512B HD engine blocks coupled to operate as a single engine.
