The Help Call app (available for $2.99 on iOS  phones) is specifically designed for travelers in case of emergency. It assists users in quickly calling emergency services from their location.

This application supports up-to-date emergency contact information 126 countries (including the United States) – this includes Police, Fire Departments, and Ambulances. The application auto-detects the user’s location, and can even be activated with a simple shake in case of emergency (in the event that you cannot see the touch screen of your phone).
