Limited Services Available at Alberta Lea Rest Areas

Published:

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports that limited services will be available at the Interstate 90 rest areas near Alberta Lea for the next ten weeks while crews work to improve accessibility and update the rest area’s facilities.

Portable toilets are being brought in while the facilities are shut down, but there will be no running water.

Only the truck parking area will be open.

“The two rest areas are the Hayward Rest Area, which serves eastbound traffic at milepost 162 about three miles east of the junction of Interstates 35 and 90, and Oakland Woods, which serves westbound traffic at milepost 171 about 11 miles east of the I-35 and I-90 junction in southern Minnesota,” MnDOT states.

The rest areas are expected to reopen in August.
