Georgia police used a sneaky tactic to snag texting drivers last week — they disguised themselves as construction workers.
Marietta Police dressed as construction workers at a busy intersection in Cobb County, which allowed them to get close enough to the unsuspecting motorists to see exactly what they were doing on their phones. The police said that motorists took no notice of them when they were disguised as a construction crew.
The police said that the tricky tactics were necessary because it is hard to prove exactly what someone is doing with a phone while behind the wheel. They say that the campaign makes it much easier to make a $150 distracted driving charge stick.
