An Alabama truck driver died yesterday after a warehouse accident in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Sean Nelson Sr. was accompanied by his minor-aged son during a delivery to the Eagles Carport Inc. warehouse when the brakes gave way on his truck, which was parked on an elevated loading dock. The son was standing near Nelson when the truck started to roll. The boy was able to jump out of the way, but Nelson was pinned in between the wall and the flatbed trailer of the truck.
By the time rescuers arrived, Nelson was in cardiac arrest. They were unable to revive him.
The Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement department will investigate the cause of the fatal incident.
Police note that while Nelson sustained obvious crushing injuries, they will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“It was just a terrible accident,” said John Shelton, director of emergency services in Surry County.
