Trucker Rescues Two Women From Partially Submerged SUV

A trucker is being called a hero after he rescued two semi-conscious women after a single vehicle crash on eastbound I-10 in Scott, Louisiana on Saturday.

Police say that the SUV crashed through a bridge guardrail around 3 a.m., sending it crashing into a ditch filled with water. The SUV came to rest upside down in the ditch.

The trucker told police that the women were ejected during the crash. When he stopped his truck to come to their aid, he found them floating face down in the water. He jumped into the ditch to pull them both to safety.

When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they found the truck driver chest deep at the edge of the water with both partially concious women. Paramedics were able to stabilize the women and they are in the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police say the truck driver got back into his truck and left the scene “as if nothing happened.” However, the fire chief on scene praised the trucker’s quick thinking and courage: “Emergency medical officials firmly believe this act of kindness may have saved two lives.”
