4 Overlooked Benefits Of Long Distance Relationships

Being on the road for days, weeks, or months at a time can make romantic relationships tough. Many trucking couples struggle with issues involving trust, loneliness, and lack of intimacy.

On the other hand, many truck drivers and their significant others will tell you that there are actually some surprising benefits to being in a long distance relationship.

  1. You’re not alone. A surprising three million married Americans are keeping you company in the long distance relationship category.
  2. You get a lot better at communication. A study from Cornell University found that long distance couples have longer and more meaningful conversations than couples who see each other every day.
  3. You sleep better. Cuddling next to your partner in bed might be fun, but it does nothing for the quality of your sleep. Sleeping solo, according to researchers, is the way to go for better sleep quality.
  4. Researchers find that couples in long distance relationships are just as happy — and maybe happier — than couples who see one another every day. One study actually found that the further apart that two people were geographically, the higher their level of satisfaction in their relationship went.
