ATA Names Successor To Retiring President Bill Graves

Today the American Trucking Association named a new president to replace Bill Graves, who is retiring after 13 years in the position.

Chris Spear, the ATA’s former senior vice president of legislative affairs, will become the organization’s ninth president and CEO.

Spear is currently employed as vice president of government affairs at Hyundai Motor Company.

Spear says that he is excited about the opportunity to head up the ATA: “I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead this great association and serve this vital industry. Trucking is the backbone of our economy and a catalyst for American job growth, delivering critical goods to businesses and homes coast-to-coast. I am excited to work alongside ATA’s members and federation partners to ensure the industry continues to prosper and safely move our nation forward.

Spear will officially claim the president and CEO title on July 9.

Graves will remain as an advisor to the ATA though the end of the year.
