Florida Troopers Cracking Down On Aggressive Drivers

From now through October 20, the Florida Highway Patrol is on the lookout for aggressive driving and will be focusing on semi truck drivers.

The aim of the “Ticketing Aggressive Cars And Trucks” campaign is to reduce fatalities involving commercial vehicles. According to the TACT website, 88 percent of fatal crashes are attributable to “driver error by both car and truck drivers.” The website does not offer statistics on how often motorists are at fault vs. how often professional drivers are at fault in fatal crashes.

Florida Troopers will be looking for unsafe driving behaviors like speeding, tailgating, and unsafe lane changes.

The TACT campaign will also use radio messaging and billboards to try to educate drivers on safe driving techniques.

Florida is one of only eleven states with specific laws against aggressive driving on the books.
