According to new data released by the American Trucking Association, trucker turnover has hit a five year high mark.
Trucker turnover rates for the fourth quarter of 2015 were 102% at large fleets. This marks the first time since 2012 that turnover rates at large fleets have remained over 100% for two quarters in a row.
Turnover rates at smaller carriers also rose substantially — up 21 points to 89% from last quarter.
The ATA says that rising turnover rates prove just how valuable reliable truck drivers really are to the carriers they work for: “The rising turnover rate, coupled with anecdotal reports from carriers, shows what a premium there is on experienced, safe drivers. And those drivers have and will continue to benefit from rising wages and benefits.”
