North Carolina police are investigating after a trucker says that he was robbed by two men at the Burlington TA truck stop yesterday.
Burlington police responded to a call about the robbery around 9:30 a.m. yesterday.
The Wyoming-based trucker told police that he was sitting in his truck a man knocked on the door and told him that someone was giving away free money. This man was described as white, heavy set, in his late 2o’s, with black hair wearing a grey t-shirt.
The man followed the trucker as he went to an ATM and withdrew an unknown amount of cash. Then the man reportedly led the trucker to the diesel pumps, where another man was sitting at a card table with cards laid out. The trucker said that this man was also white, in his 50’s, slender, with grey hair and glasses, and wearing a white t-shirt.
As the trucker approached the table, money in hand to play the game, the man in the grey t-shirt snatched the cash from his hands and ran. The trucker says he followed the man in the grey t-shirt for some distance, then went back to the pumps. When he got there, the man in the white t-shirt was gone.
No injuries were reported.
