A crash involving two pickups and a semi has shut down both directions of SR 18 west of I-90 in the Tiger Mountain Area, according to Washington State Troopers.
Police responded to reports of the crash in the eastbound lanes around 10 a.m. today. Police said that the chain reaction crash started when a semi had to slam on its brakes to avoid traffic. The truck did not stop quickly enough and hit a pickup.
The impact from that crash sent the pickup into the westbound lanes, where it collided with another pickup.

The driver of the westbound pickup suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. The trucker and pickup driver were also hospitalized but their injuries are thought to be less serious.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The crash caused serious traffic backups. There is a detour at Issaquah – Hobart Road. There is currently no ETA for when SR 18 will reopen.
