Viral Images Of Memphis Protesters On Truck Are Not What They Seem

Published:

According to new reports, the viral images of people climbing on top of a semi during a demonstration on I-40 in Memphis on Sunday was not, in fact, in fact an instance of protestors holding the truck driver “hostage.”

Reports from local news outlets WREG and Fox 13 say that truck driver in the photos actually invited Black Lives Matter protesters, along with Interim Memphis Police Department Director Mike Rallings, to climb on his truck. Fox 13 was able to confirm this with Black Lives Matter leaders Joseph Kyles and Reverend Kia Moore.

Additionally, reports say that the driver allowed the protesters to use a public address system connected to his CB radio after their bullhorn died. The Fox 13 report says that the protestors on the truck were actually trying to convince the crowd to remain peaceful.
