MnDOT: Truck Ban On I-94 Tunnel Is On In Full Force

The Minnesota State Patrol is handing out $300 tickets to truckers who violate the ban.

Truck Ban

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding truck drivers that there is currently a ban on truck traffic through the Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis.

Truckers Face A $300 Fine For Violating Truck Ban

From June 26th through mid-September, any truck weighing more than 9000 pounds will be banned from using the Lowry Hill Tunnel. Semis, large delivery trucks, and buses are all included in the ban. The truck ban comes as crews will be resurfacing 9 miles of I-94 as well as repairing dozens of bridges. Crews have narrowed lanes through the tunnel from 12 feet to 10 feet.

MnDOT’s detour for the Lowry Hill Tunnel for trucks is I-35 West, Highway 62, Highway 100 back to I-94.

The Minnesota State Patrol will be increasing patrols in the area. The fine for violating the truck ban is $300.
