Five Hurt After Semi Crashes Into California Apartment Building

Five people were injured yesterday when a semi truck collided with an occupied apartment building.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. in Fullerton, California. According to a release from the Fullerton Police Department: “Initial investigation indicates that that Volvo Tractor/Trailer was traveling within the posted speed limit in the #3 lane of eastbound Imperial Highway when it suddenly veered across lanes, struck the south curb-line, and made impact with the apartment complex, causing major structural damage to the building.

The two people in the semi truck — the forty-four year old male driver and a forty-two year old female passenger were transported to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time. Three apartment occupants — a forty-year old male, a forty-year old female, and their two-year old child — were also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police evacuated the apartment building due to concerns about its structural integrity after the crash. The apartments have since been deemed uninhabitable.
