A Houston, Texas, truck driver is facing serious charges after he allegedly attacked at least three people following a crash on State Highway 288 on Wednesday night.

Rear End Crash Leads To Attack On Three Drivers

The incident is said to have began after HK Transportation truck driver Warren Nelson rear ended another vehicle on Highway 288. According to reports, Nelson got out of his truck in a very agitated state and became even more enraged when the driver who was rear ended approached him to exchange insurance information.

Houston police say that Nelson attacked the driver who was rear ended as well as at least two other people.

Witness Efren Velazquez filmed the incident. He told ABC 13, “I got my phone and I start to record. The guy started hitting the cars and broke the windshields.

As Velazquez filmed, he says that Nelson punched out his driver’s side window and then “His hand[…]hit me in the face…[there’s] something wrong with him.

Police Struggle To Subdue Trucker

When Houston police officers arrived on the scene, Nelson was still extremely agitated. Officers tried to subdue him with both a taser and a bean bag gun, but both attempts were unsuccessful. Finally, after he moved as if to attack police, he was tackled by several officers and arrested without further incident.

Nelson is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault of a public servant.

Two of the people who were attacked by Nelson reported that they became unconscious after they were struck.

The incident remains under investigation. It isn’t clear at this time what led up to the initial rear end crash.

Nelson’s boss at HK Transportation Havin Wilson says that he is puzzled by the incident: “He’s a pretty level headed guy. I haven’t had any issues out of him. He’s actually a very good worker…. It’s all a surprise to me.
