Police have confirmed that two people have died in a serious multi-vehicle crash on I-64 in St. Louis, Missouri, this morning.

The crash happened after 8 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-64 at I-270.
Police say that numerous vehicles, including one semi truck, collided, sparking a large fire. One of the passenger vehicles appears to have been wedged underneath the truck during the crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has confirmed that two people died in the crash. Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.
All lanes of eastbound I-64 have been shut down and will remain closed for hours. There is no estimated time for reopening the interstate. Traffic is backed up for miles and police are asking drivers to look for alternate routes.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
