Cops kick trucker out of parking lot. Later that night they arrest him in the same lot for DUI.

Last night Pennsylvania police arrested a truck driver for DUI soon after they forced him to leave a shopping mall parking lot because he was illegally parked.

According to Lehigh Valley Live, the incident happened in Bethlehem Township.

Police Clear Illegally Parked Trucks Out Of Lot

Police say that they found two tractor trailers parked illegally overnight at the Bethlehem Square shopping center.

Officers told both truck drivers that they must leave the parking lot. One of the truck drivers complied immediately. It took police longer to wake the other truck driver, 39 year old Sukhjit Singh Minhas of California.

Minhas reportedly appeared disoriented before he drove his truck out of the parking lot, so the police officer offered to escort him to an industrial park where he would be permitted to park overnight. The police officer said that Minhas did follow him for awhile, but then turned off and stopped following.

Trucker Returns To Lot He Was Forced To Leave

When officers returned to the shopping center parking lot to make sure that no other trucks were parked there, they once again found Minhas parked in the lot.

Police say that when Minhas exited the truck to talk to them, he told them that he was going to sleep. He reportedly stumbled and smelled of alcohol.

When police administered a field sobriety test, Minhas failed. When he was given a Breathalyzer test, he blew a 0.18.

Minhas was arrested on charges of DUI and leaving an unattended vehicle on public property. He is being held in jail in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
