Driver killed after steel coils shift and overturn truck

A Georgia truck driver lost his life yesterday when the load of steel coils that he was hauling shifted and caused his truck to overturn.

The crash happened in Clark County, Indiana, just after 5 p.m. on September 27, 2018, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

Police say that 64 year old truck driver Roger L. Cole was hauling two steel coils down the ramp from from I-265 westbound to I-65 southbound. The coils reportedly shifted, causing the truck to overturn.

Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Local news station 11Alive reports that Cole had driven trucks for most of his adult life and that his family says that he always put safety first.
