Investigators focus on TA truck stop in search for missing student

Investigators searching for a 20 year old Iowa woman who has been missing for weeks say that a Travel Centers of America truck stop is a “location of interest” that might hold the key to finding her.

College student Mollie Tibbetts was last seen jogging on the night of July 18 in the town of Brooklyn, Iowa. She was reported missing on July 19 when she didn’t show up for work.

Missing Student Truck Stop

On Monday, August 13, investigators released a list of five locations of interest in their search for Tibbetts. On the list was a Travel Centers of America truck stop located off I-80 in Brooklyn, Iowa.

Law enforcement is asking anyone who was at the truck stop on the evening of July 18 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. to contact them or to submit a tip by clicking here.

The other areas of interest include the D & M Car Wash, located on Clay Street as well as various rural and residential properties. You can click here to access an interactive map highlighting all five points of interest.

The reward for information leading to Tibbetts’ safe return is now over $360,000.

Tibbetts is 5’2” and approximately 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing jogging clothes.

Police say that though they received a tip earlier this month about Mollie being spotted with a truck driver at a truck stop in Kearney, Missouri, they no longer believe that the tip was credible.

You may also contact the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office at (641) 623-5679 if you believe you have information about Tibbetts’ disappearance.
