Arizona transportation officials were forced to shut down I-10 in Phoenix after a semi truck crashed and caught fire this morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 9:45 a.m. when a semi truck driver headed west on I-10 lost control and crashed into the median of the interstate. The truck’s trailer came to a stop in the eastbound lanes of I-10.

The truck caught fire after the crash, sending massive amounts of black smoke up into the air.
The truck driver was able to get out of his vehicle and wasn’t seriously hurt.

I-10 is expected to remain closed at 40th Street for an extended period of time. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
