Trucker indicted for disassembling and selling big rig parts following fight with boss

A truck driver was indicted on Monday on felony charges after he dismantled his 2012 Peterbilt and sold the parts following a disagreement with his employer.

Twenty-seven year old Tennessee-based truck driver Rusty Wayne Davis has been indicted on felony charges of theft over $60,000 and vandalism over $60,000.

Truck Taken Apart After Spat With Trucking Boss

According to police, Davis worked for Texas-based trucking company Pro Resources, LLC when he got into an argument with the company owner. Authorities say that following the argument, Davis took the truck to New Market, Tennessee. There, he disassembled the truck and sold several of the parts.

Police say that the total value of the truck, including the attached grain trailer, was $200,000.

THP Tipped Off About Stripped Truck

Davis was caught after the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) received a tip in May 24, 2017 letting them know that the truck could be in New Market. THP asked the New Market Police Department to investigate, and on May 30, they were able to locate the 2012 Peterbilt — minus the engine, transmission, and other essential parts — at a shop. It was positively identified as the missing Pro Resources by the VIN number. Police were later able to locate the transmission at a shop in Grainger County, Tennessee. The shop owners did not know that the transmission was stolen, according to police.

Davis was arrested in July.
