Trucking company honors driver with custom-designed truck

Published:

A trucking company recently recognized a driver for 2 million accident-free miles and more than a decade of military service — all with one remarkable gift.

On Monday, November 12, veteran Transport America truck driver Russ Cox was presented with a newly wrapped truck in honor of his military service in a ceremony in St. Paul, Minnesota. The truck is part of Transport America’s “Armed Forces Fleet program” meant to “honor an exemplary Veteran driver from our fleet with a newly wrapped truck commemorating whichever branch of the military they served.”

Cox served in the U.S. Army for 11 years and has driven for Transport America for 20 years. He has driven 2 million miles without an accident.

Laura Rahier, director of enterprise student and driver relations and recruiting, told Hometown Source that in the future, the trucking company will create special wraps for each branch of the miiitary: “The ones going forward will have a similar design but just specific to the respective branch for the driver.”

Transport American wrote in a Facebook post commemorating the event that “it has been a joy for all of us to watch him see his new truck for the first time and receive his award. Thank you Russ for defending our freedom and keeping our roads safe for 2 million miles, and many more to come! We look forward to our next recipient, because seeing it unfold left a smile on all of our faces here at Transport America!”
