The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has extended an invitation to the trucking community to join them for lunch to celebrate Truck Driver Appreciation Day.
The CHP’s free barbecue lunch event is taking place on September 10, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the northbound Gilroy Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility off U.S. 101 in San Martin, California.
In addition to the free lunch, CHP says that vendors and government agencies will be on hand to provide “information” to the truckers in attendance.
A number of truck drivers have expressed concern that the CHP is using the free lunch as bait, but troopers promise that they won’t be doing any inspections on Truck Driver Appreciation Day.
