Parts of downtown Dallas were in lockdown this morning over a semi truck that was parked outside of a federal building.
The incident began around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 24, when an anonymous tipster called 911 to report a semi truck that was parked outside of the Earle Cabell Federal Building in Dallas, Texas, according to Fox 4 News.
Dallas police responded to the scene and said that they spotted “suspicious wiring” somewhere on the truck.
Police immediately brought in the bomb squad as well as the FBI, Dallas Fire and Rescue, and the U.S. Marshals. Several buildings including the federal building were evacuated and several streets were shut down.
Eventually, the bomb squad opened up the trailer and found only boxes inside.

Authorities finally made contact with trucking company, who said that the truck driver was on an extended break.
The truck was towed.
Police say that the truck driver may face charges. Sgt. Warren Mitchell with the Dallas Police Department said, “It’s clearly marked. He should not have parked there. You know, whether there will be charges or not, we’ve not made that determination at this time.”
Tensions are high in the area after a 22 year old man opened fire in a federal building in downtown Dallas last week. Authorities returned fire and the man was killed. No one else was hurt.
The incident resulted in serious traffic delays in the downtown Dallas area this morning.
