A winter storm is causing serious travel trouble for truckers in California as winds rolled over several big rigs and snow shut down the Grapevine.
Caltrans announced on Monday, January 14 around 3 p.m. that the Grapevine is closed in both directions while heavy snow and freezing temperatures are making travel treacherous.

The Grapevine closure is causing major traffic backups.
As much as five inches of snow have fallen on the area.
Officials say that there is no estimated time for the Grapevine to reopen.

California transportation officials are also reporting that high winds on Highway 58 in the Bakersfield area blew over “multiple” semi trucks this morning.
It isn’t clear at this time whether there were any injuries.
A wind advisory was issued for the area, with wind speeds of up to 50 m.p.h. possible.
