Moment that massive avalanche hurtles toward interstate caught on camera

A motorist captured incredible video of a huge avalanche barreling towards I-70 in Colorado over the weekend.

The footage was captured by motorist Jacob Easton between Frisco and Copper Mountain, Colorado, on Sunday, March 3, according to a report from KDVR.

Easton said that he and his father were traveling on I-70 about two miles from Copper Mountain when “all of a sudden, me and my dad just saw a big white cloud to the left of us and we instantly noticed the avalanche.”

In the video, you can see that snow from the avalanche spatters Easton’s windshield but his vehicle was not buried.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) says that while the avalanche got close to I-70, there was not enough snow on the road to impact travel. However, a second avalanche that occurred after the one that was caught on camera did force a temporary closure of I-70.

No avalanche-related injuries were reported.
