The Florida Highway Patrol says that six people lost their lives this afternoon in a fiery mulit-vehicle crash.
The crash happened on the afternoon of Thursday, December 3, on I-75 at mile marker 393 near Gainesville in Alachua County, Florida.
At least two semi trucks and a van were involved in a collision that left several vehicles on fire in the southbound lanes of the interstate, according to News4Jax.
Authorities have confirmed that six people have died as a result of the crash.
Eight other people have been transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Some of these injuries are considered to be critical.
All lanes of southbound I-75 at mile marker 393 are shut down for the crash as of 5 p.m. A single lane of northbound I-75 is open. Heavy traffic delays are being reported.
