Alabama police release dash cam of hit and run that left a trucker dead

The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) in Alabama has released disturbing dash cam video of a fatal crash in hopes of locating the motorist responsible for causing it.

On October 19, the BPD released information on the fatal crash and called for public help in locating a motorist who fled the scene.

Police say that at the crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on October 6 at I-59 North/I- 59 South. 

According to BPD, a “white vehicle” struck a small silver sedan. The silver sedan then “catapulted into an 18 wheeler causing the 18 wheeler to strike a black SUV.” The crash caused the 18 wheeler to fall off the ramp about 25 feet onto I-59/20 northbound below.

BPD says that the truck driver, later identified as 59 year old Charles Eugene Pearce Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

One other person was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the white vehicle fled the scene.
