A truck driver shared dash cam video of an unusual wildlife strike on a Connecticut roadway.
The incident was caught on camera earlier this month on I-95.
An adult female bald eagle was scavenging roadkill on the interstate as truck driver Scott Burke approached.
The eagle dodged an oncoming car and flew upwards, only to collide full force into Burke’s windshield as he was traveling at speeds of around 50 m.p.h.
The impact shattered the truck’s windshield, but Burke was able to pull over his truck safely and immediately called Connecticut State Police for help.
Troopers discovered that the bird was still alive and took the animal to a rescue and rehabilitation group called “A Place Called Hope.”
Remarkably, the eagle was in shock but suffered no broken bones during the collision. Rescuers hope to return her to the wild after she recovers.
