An Ohio interstate is shut down following an intense chase between police and a truck and trailer.
The chase began around today at 1:30 p.m. on I-275 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Some news outlets said that police believed the truck driver was holding his passenger hostage. At some point during the chase, the truck driver did stop and let the passenger out of the truck.
The chase is now over and the driver has been taken into custody.
At this time, it is unclear why the chase began or who the driver is.
“Northbound I-275 is currently closed at Combs Hehl bridge. Southbound is closed at Five Mile Road. Ohio Department of Transportation said the roads will reopen in about one hour,” WKRC reported.
This is a developing story. We will update as more information is available.
I've been glued to @EvanMillward live-tweeting this bizarre chase. Excellent use of screen grabs from ODOT cameras along this route to illustrate what's going on too. https://t.co/F2CudJIQUE

Police have been chasing a man in an 18 wheeler. The chase began at about 1:30 p.m. He had a person in the cab with him, but freed the person at about 3:00. He chases snarled traffic south of downtown for the last two hours. #semichase pic.twitter.com/M6THXLOWs0

Someone got out of the truck a while ago but now it’s just either sitting there or trying to move @Local12 pic.twitter.com/X0mQN1QHUH

He is currently in the eastbound lanes on I-275 westbound towards Cincinnati near 5 Mile. He left his trailer and has been going at speeds of up to 80 mph. pic.twitter.com/0dEX1ITv6q

Police are diverting traffic to the other side of I-275 about a mile before crossing the bridge into Ohio. @Local12 pic.twitter.com/Us8opSXgJs

Both sides of I-275 closed near the Combs-Hehl Bridge. It appears this is where police caught up with the suspect. @Local12 pic.twitter.com/Y6u9aes7Au
