The U.S. government’s Veteran’s Affairs (VA) on the job training programs are a valuable resource for members of the military community as they transition into trucking careers — and Swift Transportation is going above and beyond to make sure that veterans can take full advantage!

  3. You can earn hundreds of dollars in additional income on top of your Swift paycheck for 12 months while you’re completing your on the job training– this pay rate is determined by the VA depending on your terminal’s location.
  4. More than 100 veterans have already completed Swift’s VA apprenticeship program since the program was approved in April 2018– and another 86 are currently enrolled!
  5. Active duty members in the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Army and Air Force are eligible for the program as well as current or former National Guard members and Reserve members.
  6. There’s a program manager who will act as your advocate to make sure that you’re getting the benefits you deserve. Your program manager spends time reaching out to each driver in the program, submits paperwork on your behalf, and ensures that all requirements are met to make sure that you receive your benefits.
  7. While you take advantage of your GI Bill benefits through the VA apprenticeship program, your dependents or spouse could also earn their CDL with Swift’s assistance thanks to a veteran’s CDL scholarship program.
