A truck driver issued a warning to the trucking community after he said that several drivers were attacked with objects thrown from an overpass.
Truck driver Andrew Meeks took to Facebook to warn others to use caution when traveling on I-20 in Mississippi after he says “large objects and rocks” were thrown at trucks from an overpass.
“My wife Brandie Michelle Meeks and I along with 3 other drivers were attacked tonight on I-20 west bound in Mississippi, just east of Toomsuba mile marker 169. Large objects and rocks were being thrown or launched at big rigs from an overpass. Sounded like a cannonball hit the windshield,” Meeks said.
Meeks said that he and his wife were not seriously injured during the attack but that “it could have been much worse.” However, he said that a driver friend was struck in the face by a rock.
Meeks asked that truckers traveling in the area use caution and said that Facebook users should “feel free to share so others know to look out.” His post has been shared over 2600 times in just a few days.
In recent months, truckers have been the target of violence during numerous highway shooting and rock throwing incidents.
