The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is teaming up with local law enforcement for a 24 hour high visibility enforcement campaign on Friday.
From now through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 12, law enforcement will be patrolling I-24 in every Tennessee county from the Kentucky border to the Georgia border.
The enforcement effort is called “Operation Impact 24.”
Officers will be on the lookout for various driving violations including distracted driving, hands-free devices violations, seatbelt violations, and hazardous moving violations.
“Our goal is to prevent injury and fatal crashes. We are asking for all drivers to join us to make this goal a reality. Together we are more effective,” THP Colonel Matt Perry said.
THP says that they’ll be using a marked semi to get a better vantage point to catch commercial vehicle and distracted driving violations. Troopers inside the semi will radio to other officers in marked vehicles to perform a traffic stop if they spot a violation.
