The South Dakota Highway Patrol (SDHP) says that high winds blew over multiple semi trucks on Thursday.
“We’ve seen over 10 semis tipped over on South Dakota roadways today,” SDHP said in a Thursday afternoon social media post.
Troopers said that high wind warnings are in effect for the entire state of South Dakota from now through Friday, causing dangerous driving conditions for truckers.
SDHP said that 70 m.p.h. wind gusts were recorded in western and central South Dakota Thursday and could continue through Friday morning.
Wind gusts will increase to 60 miles per hour in eastern South Dakota Thursday afternoon and persist through Friday afternoon, troopers said.
