Officials thankful no one was in the passenger seat after large debris crashes through semi truck windshield

A piece of debris from a passing vehicle smashed through the windshield of a moving semi truck in Oregon on Monday morning.

The incident happened on August 16th just before 9 a.m. near Madras, Oregon.

According to NBC 16 News, the semi was heading north on Highway 97 between Redmond and Madras when the large chunk of debris smashed through the windshield and landed in the passenger seat.

“Thankfully there was no one in the passenger seat of the semi when the object pierced through the window of the semi,” the sheriff said. “The driver was not injured and pulled his truck safely off the roadway and waited for help.”

Upon further inspection, the object “appeared to be a black John Deere seat that was bolted to a piece of plywood that was painted black,” described the sheriff.

The trucker was not injured in the incident.
