Missouri transportation officials say that drivers must find alternate routes this weekend during a major interstate shutdown.
Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 20, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Kansas City will perform a “total closure” of eastbound and westbound I-70 between the state line to I-35 in the northeast corner of the downtown loop.
Both directions of I-70 are expected to remain closed through the weekend and to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, August 23.
The interstate closure will allow crews to make pavement repairs.
Several ramps will also be closed over the weekend, including:
- The ramp from southbound MO Route 9 to northbound I-35.
- The ramp from southbound U.S. 169 to northbound I-35.
- The ramp from Sixth St. to northbound I-35.
