Trucker fatally struck by own truck in mining-related accident

Published:

A truck driver is dead after being run over by what seems to have been his own truck in West Virginia on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened before 6 a.m. at the Morgan Camp Mine near Mill Creek, West Virginia.

According to a report to the mine accident hotline, 53-year-old Timothy Collins had pulled over and stopped along a wide portion of a haul road and was inspecting his truck when he was run over.

The report recounts the incident as follows:

“Coal truck driver was walking around truck. Truck ran over driver.”

Collins was pronounced dead at 6:12 a.m., reported Metro News.

This is the second coal mining related death in the area since last week.
