Trucker in trauma hospital after “open water” crash

A truck driver is in the hospital after a wreck sent their rig into a nearby canal. 

The accident happened at 9:46 a.m. near Boynton Beach, Florida. 

According to The Palm Beach Post, the semi truck was traveling north on the Florida Turnpike north of Boynton Beach Boulevard when it went off the road and landed in the nearby canal. 

When first responders arrived at the “open water incident,” they found the semi truck on fire and partially in the water. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the truck driver was injured in the incident and transported to a nearby trauma center.

The reason behind the crash is not clear, and the trucker’s current health status is not known.
