Trucker risks own life, rig to protect victim of hit-and-run left to die

A truck driver risked his own life and rig to prevent further injury to a woman apparently struck and killed on a San Antonio highway last week.

Police are still searching for the driver they believe is responsible for the death of a woman on Highway 281 in San Antonio, Texas on March 9th.

According to KSAT News, the unidentified woman was found lying in the 27600 block of northbound 281 at around 4 p.m. There are no known witnesses to the actual incident, but a passing motorist reported the deceased woman to police while a passing trucker maneuvered his semi truck across the northbound lanes, risking his truck and potentially his life to prevent any further injury to the victim lying in the road.

The woman was pronounced dead on scene, and investigators are still looking into the incident. As of Wednesday afternoon, the woman had not been identified, it was still unclear exactly what type of vehicle hit her, and there was no ‘road evidence’ to be found.

Officials are offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
